Dried Fruit and Almond Stollen (800g)
Sweet German Xmas bread filled with dried fruit, nuts, candied peel and marzipan.
Stollen is the German version of Christmas cake, but not as heavy.
It is still filled with fruit, nuts and candied peel with all the Christmas spices.
It also has a log of homemade marzipan (a sugared almond paste with egg white and vanilla vodka) in its centre and is covered in icing sugar.
It is rich and sweet, but a lighter option to traditional Christmas cake. It also stores well due to its filling which contains vanilla vodka, but best to freeze rather than store in the cupboard.
Ingredients: Cake flour, almonds, icing sugar, sourdough yeast culture, mixed raisins, full cream milk, candied peel, vanilla vodka, free range eggs, sugar, butter, yeast, cardamon, nutmeg, cinnamon, lemon zest, vanilla essence, almond essence, un iodated salt.
STORING NOTE: Store well wrapped. Will last up to 2 weeks. If storing in the fridge, keep well wrapped and use within 2 days as product will get crumbly and dry.
HEATING NOTE: Preheat oven to 180°C.
Bake for about 2 minutes until soft and warm to the touch.
Alternatively you can pop a slice in the microwave for a few seconds.
